We are honored when families choose us to help them welcome a new companion, and we take that responsibility seriously.
Our kittens are raised with love, dedication, and individualized attention. Behind every kitten is an extraordinary amount of time, preparation, care, and commitment.
To ensure a positive experience for everyone, we have established guidelines designed to provide clarity, consistency, and mutual understanding throughout the adoption process.
These policies are not intended to make the process complicated. Rather, they are designed to protect our kittens, respect the time and resources involved in their care, and help every family understand what to expect.
We kindly ask all prospective families to review our guidelines and Adoption Agreement before reserving a kitten.
Our Adoption Agreement
Our Adoption Agreement outlines the responsibilities of both Shore Kittens and the adopting family.
It addresses important matters such as reservations, deposits, financial obligations, health provisions, kitten identification, homecoming arrangements, and other terms associated with welcoming a Shore Kittens kitten.
We believe clear communication and transparency are essential to building positive relationships with our families.
Families are encouraged to carefully review the agreement and ask questions before making a reservation.
All kitten reservations are subject to the terms of our written Adoption Agreement.
The signed agreement governs the adoption transaction, including any circumstances not specifically addressed on this informational page, subject to applicable law.
Reservations & Deposits
Reserving a kitten is an exciting milestone!
Once a reservation has been accepted and the required deposit has been received, your selected kitten is removed from availability.
We then decline additional inquiries from other families interested in that kitten.
Because a reservation represents a commitment from both parties, reservation deposits are nonrefundable, except where otherwise required by applicable law or expressly provided in our Adoption Agreement.
We encourage families to carefully consider their decision before placing a deposit.
Adoption Administration & Services
Every Shore Kittens adoption involves considerable administrative work beyond the daily care of our cats and kittens.
This includes preparing agreements, maintaining records, coordinating reservations, processing documentation, communicating adoption arrangements, and scheduling homecoming details.
To support these services, Shore Kittens may charge a separate Adoption Administration & Services Fee.
When applicable, this fee is disclosed before a reservation is finalized and is separate from the kitten’s adoption price.
The fee compensates us for defined administrative services and is subject to the terms of our written agreement.
Fees for services already performed are generally nonrefundable, except where otherwise required by law.
We appreciate our families recognizing that the time and attention devoted to coordinating each adoption are valuable parts of the services we provide.
Photography & Kitten Updates
We understand how exciting it is to watch your kitten grow!
Those early weeks are special, and we enjoy sharing memorable moments with our Shore Kittens families.
However, caring for our cats and kittens is always our first priority.
Photographing young kittens involves more than simply taking a picture. It often requires grooming, preparation, appropriate lighting, and ensuring that each kitten remains comfortable throughout the process.
For this reason, additional photography and individualized photo requests are not included in our standard adoption experience.
We may share photographs, videos, and general updates at our discretion.
However, we cannot accommodate frequent requests for new photographs, specific poses, individual photo sessions, or personalized videos as part of the standard adoption experience.
We appreciate your understanding that our time must first be devoted to the daily care, health, comfort, and development of our kittens.
The Shore Kittens Concierge Experience
For families who would enjoy a more personalized experience while awaiting their kitten’s homecoming, we offer an optional Shore Kittens Concierge Package.
This service is designed for families who would like additional photographs, personalized videos, individualized updates, and other special services.
Our Concierge Package allows us to dedicate additional time to these requests while maintaining the care and attention our cats and kittens deserve.
Concierge Services are entirely optional and are not included in the standard adoption experience.
All Concierge Services are governed by a separate written agreement and are subject to a strict nonrefundable fee policy once services begin, except where applicable law requires otherwise.
Concierge fees are separate from the kitten’s adoption price and are not credited toward that price.
Every Shore Kittens kitten receives the same quality of care, love, and attention, regardless of whether a family selects a Concierge Package.
Families will always receive essential information regarding their kitten’s health, well-being, and homecoming preparations.
Communication & Availability
At Shore Kittens, we genuinely enjoy getting to know our families and sharing in the excitement of welcoming a new companion.
We are always happy to answer reasonable questions, provide guidance, and help our families prepare for their kitten’s arrival.
However, we kindly ask families to remember that Shore Kittens is a privately operated, home-based breeding program.
In addition to the daily responsibilities of caring for our cats and kittens, we also have families, careers, personal obligations, and other responsibilities outside of our breeding program.
Our days often involve feeding, grooming, cleaning, socializing kittens, attending to veterinary needs, and maintaining our cattery, all while balancing the responsibilities of everyday life.
Although we make every effort to respond to inquiries in a timely manner, we are not available around the clock, and immediate responses should not be expected.
We respectfully ask families to be considerate of our time, particularly during evenings, weekends, holidays, and family commitments.
Reserving a kitten does not include unlimited access to our time, on-demand communication, or personalized photography and video services.
Additional photography, videos, and individualized updates are available through our optional Shore Kittens Concierge Package.
Of course, important information concerning your kitten’s health, well-being, and homecoming will always be communicated as appropriate, regardless of whether Concierge Services are selected.
We believe that kindness, patience, mutual respect, and reasonable expectations help create a wonderful experience for everyone.
Our commitment to our kittens is unwavering, but we also believe that maintaining a healthy balance between our breeding program, our families, and our other responsibilities allows us to provide the best possible care.

Kitten Gender Identification
We understand that families may have a preference for a male or female kitten.
At Shore Kittens, we make every reasonable effort to accurately identify and communicate the sex of our kittens.
However, determining the sex of a young kitten is not always an exact science, and identification errors can occasionally occur.
Unless breeding rights have been separately purchased and expressly granted through a written agreement, a kitten’s gender is deemed reliable but is not guaranteed.
This provision applies to kittens placed as pets, regardless of how their gender was initially identified, advertised, or communicated.
Breeding rights are not included in standard pet placements and must be separately approved and purchased.
Families with specific gender preferences are encouraged to discuss those preferences with us before reserving a kitten.
This policy does not limit any rights or remedies provided under applicable law.
Kitten Development & Individual Characteristics
Every kitten is unique, and part of the joy of welcoming a young companion is watching its individual personality develop.
As kittens mature, their appearance, coat color, markings, size, and temperament may naturally change.
Although we make every reasonable effort to provide accurate descriptions, certain characteristics cannot always be predicted with complete certainty.
Photographs represent a kitten’s appearance at the time they were taken and may not reflect every aspect of its future development.
We encourage families to appreciate that kittens are living animals, each with an individual developmental journey.
Our Homecoming Policy
Our kittens typically join their new families at approximately 11 to 12 weeks of age.
We believe these additional weeks provide valuable opportunities for physical development, socialization, and preparation for life in a new home.
Homecoming dates are estimates rather than guarantees.
A kitten’s individual health, development, and readiness will always determine when it may safely leave our care.
Once your kitten is ready, we will coordinate the appropriate arrangements for a safe and comfortable transition.
We kindly ask families to be prepared to complete their adoption arrangements and welcome their kitten home within the agreed-upon timeframe.
Any special scheduling requests are subject to availability and may involve additional fees when additional services are required.
Our Closed Cattery Policy
The health and safety of our cats and kittens are among our highest priorities.
Shore Kittens operates as a closed cattery, meaning access to our home and breeding areas is restricted.
This policy helps us maintain a safe, controlled environment and reduce unnecessary exposure to potential health risks.
We understand that families are naturally excited to meet their future companions, and we sincerely appreciate their understanding of these precautions.
Our responsibility extends to every animal in our care, including newborns, expectant mothers, and other vulnerable cats and kittens.
Special Requests & Additional Services
We understand that every family has different preferences and expectations.
Whenever reasonably possible, we strive to provide a positive and accommodating experience.
However, certain requests require additional time, preparation, scheduling, or resources.
Personalized photography, additional videos, individual photo sessions, special scheduling arrangements, and other customized services are not automatically included in the standard adoption experience.
These services may be available through our optional Concierge Package or another separately agreed-upon service arrangement.
Any applicable fees and terms will be disclosed before the requested services are provided.
We appreciate our families understanding that specialized services require additional time and attention beyond the ordinary care and preparation included with every kitten.
Changes, Cancellations & Refunds.
We understand that circumstances can change unexpectedly.
However, accepting a kitten reservation involves commitments on our part, including administrative preparation, scheduling, and removing a kitten from availability.
For this reason, deposits, administrative fees, and optional service charges are governed by their respective written agreements.
Reservation deposits are generally nonrefundable.
Administrative fees for services already performed are generally nonrefundable.
Concierge Services are governed by a separate agreement and are subject to their own nonrefundable payment terms once services begin.
All policies are subject to applicable law, including any legally required refunds or remedies.
We encourage families to communicate concerns promptly so that we can address them appropriately.
